Over the course of a lifetime, college graduates earn $1 MILLION MORE than non-college graduates.

The classes you take in high school will prepare you for your future. Step up to earn the Hawai‘i State Board of Education’s Step Up Diploma. This diploma is different from the regular high school diploma. It includes more challenging classes in math, science and writing, and it also includes the completion of a senior project. Upon graduation, students who earn the BOE Step Up Diploma are eligible for incentives for “stepping up” to this challenge. And they are better prepared to succeed after high school, whether they choose to attend college or get a living wage job.
The BOE Step Up diploma gives graduates more benefits after high school including:
Money for College
Access to scholarships such as the State of Hawai'i B Plus Scholarship, Fukunaga Scholarship, Boys and Girls Club Educational Enrichment Scholarship, Kamehameha Scholars Recognition Diploma Incentive
Admission to Hawai'i Colleges
University of Hawai'i, Hawai'i Pacific University, and Chaminade (Other requirements may apply)
Job Application Advancement
Employment application advancement for employers of City Mill, Hawai'i Carpenters/Drywall Apprenticeship Program, Hawaiian Electric Company, Hawai'i Electric Light Company, Island Movers, Maui Electric Company
