Getting Ahead w/ Math Placement Tests!

Want to get ahead in college before you even start? Math placement tests can help you earn your way into higher math levels and therefore get a jumpstart on your requirements.

Many colleges and universities require a math placement exam before and/or after admission. Make sure to brush up on your math skills by taking advantage of all the resources available to you. Placing in a higher level of math can potentially relieve you from introductory math courses and ultimately help you save time and money!

The Math Departments at UH Manoa and UH Hilo offer optional placement exams, otherwise known as assessment exams. Based on your math placement exam score, the Mathematics Department will enter a BMAT score into Banner, allowing you to register for certain mathematics courses within one year.

UH West O‘ahu, Maui College, and all University of Hawai‘i Community Colleges use the required COMPASS placement test to assess students’ current skill levels in mathematics, reading, and writing. These scores will determine the courses, which you will be eligible to register for.

Lucky for you, EdReady has provided some test-prep resources to make sure you are well-prepared for your college math placement exam as well as the SAT and ACT!
