Hawai`i Scholarships

            Scholarships in this category are from local organizations in Hawai`i.  These scholarships are not only applicable to Hawai`i residents, but many of them may give priority to local residents (make sure to read the criteria).  Some of the scholarships are also specifically for students who are attending college in Hawai`i.

  • University of Hawai‘i System Scholarships - The UH System Scholarships are open to students who are admitted as a regular student attending any one of the ten campuses of the University of Hawai‘i System.

            Scholarships in this category are varied and have a wide range of criteria.  Many of these search engines help by matching scholarships to you.  You typically begin by uploading some personal information – year in school, GPA, ethnicity, goals, etc. – the search engine will then match you with the scholarships you are eligible for.

  • www.scholarships.com This site connects you with tools to aid in researching and finding financial aid for college, as well as choosing a campus that's right for you. This regularly updated proprietary database allows you to search over 2.7 million college scholarships and grants worth over $19 billion and quickly arrive at a list of awards for which you qualify. And it's all free.

 

Individualized Scholarships

            Scholarships in this category have some specific criteria that need to be fulfilled in order to apply for these scholarships.  Many of them are from private donors or organizations looking to advance students who fulfill the requirements they are looking for. (Examples include: being a water sports athlete, having Native Hawaiian ancestry or even future goals to become an elementary educator). There are scholarships for all types of people so always keep looking, and don’t give up!

  • http://www.ksbe.edu/finaid Kamehameha Schools offers a variety of scholarships to Native Hawaiian Students. Check the site to see which scholarships you may be eligible for.
  • http://www.gmsp.org/ The Gates Millenium Scholars Program awards 1,000 students each year with a good-through-graduation scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice.
  • This scholarship document provides a list of webites and databases to encourage youth to engage in a comprehensive search for all the scholarships which they may eligible.
