Take Challenging Courses in High School

The classes you take in high school will prepare you for your future. Step up to earn the Board of Education "Step Up" Recognition Diploma. This diploma will guide you to take the right classes throughout your years in high school, so you will graduate college and career ready.

 

Sign a Project Step Up Pledge Form in the 9th Grade

  • If you are in the class of 2015 and attending a public school, commit, with your parents, to earning the Board of Education "Step Up" Recognition Diploma by signing a Project Step Up Pledge Form.
  • Signing a pledge form will not only help you earn the diploma, you will also receive more information about going to college, applying for scholarships or preparing for a career.
  • Pledge forms are available at your school or click here. Turn the forms into your school’s office, counseling department or put them in the mail to Hawai'i P-20.
  • Do it now! You must pledge your commitment to the Board of Education Step Up Diploma by May 31, 2012.

Stay on Track: Register for the Right Classes

Talk to your high school’s registrar or to your counselor to determine what classes you should be taking next year.

 

Talk to Adults About Your Future

Talk to your parents, school counselors, teachers, and other adults about your plans after high school and ask them for help. 

  • If you are struggling with classes in high school, ask for help from parents, counselors, teachers and other adults you know and trust.
  • Attend college prep activities at your school and in the community.
  • Explore careers that interest you and learn about the type of education or training needed to prepare you for success in those careers.
